Agility is now the fastest growing dog sport in the UK and once you have seen it in action you can understand why. Whether its keeping your pet dog busy or competing at the top, its a sport that can be enjoyed by all breeds and by people of all ages.
Here at EDTC we run Agility classes for beginners and puppies, through to competitive dogs from Grade 1-7. All training is done in a fun and positive way and we encourage all members to become actively involved in our Summer Show.
The beginners and young dog classes involve an overview and introduction to each peice of equipment and how to complete each obstacle correctly. As the dogs progress the handlers and dogs are taught the skills needed to complete whole courses in readiness to compete.
The competition classes vary in levels. In each class the dogs and handlers are taught how to reach the best of their potential, concentrating on tight turns, fast accurate contacts and reliable weaves.
There are currently nine agility Instructors at the club, all compete regularaly at varying levels and have completed Instructors courses.
In the Winter we train at Arena UK (near Grantham just off the A1) and in the Summer we are out on the Club field in Oakham.
